Running Pace Calculator for Time and Distance

Calculate running pace, speed and equivalent finish times from any distance. Convert minutes per kilometre or mile for training and race planning.

Use the Running Pace Calculator

Enter a distance and finish time to see average pace and speed. The number is useful for planning, but it does not tell you how hard the run felt or whether the pace suits today’s weather.

How to calculate running pace

Pace is the time needed to cover one kilometre or mile. The calculator divides total time by distance and also converts the result into speed. For the clearest result, use the distance actually covered rather than the advertised race distance if your watch recorded a much longer route.

02

Use pace for training without racing every run

Easy sessions should usually feel conversational, even when that means a slower number. Faster work has a place, but repeating hard efforts every day can crowd out recovery. Compare similar routes and conditions instead of treating every pace reading as a verdict on fitness.

03

Adjust running pace for heat, hills and fatigue

Humidity limits cooling and can make a familiar pace feel harder in Singapore. Hills, wind, poor sleep and accumulated training also change effort. Slow down, use the talk test and stop for chest pain, fainting, confusion or signs of heat illness.

PART OF A BIGGER PLAN

Use pace as one part of the run

Move from the calculated split into effort guidance, hot-weather planning and a weekly route you can recover from.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Running Pace Calculator questions, answered

What is a good running pace?

+

A good pace matches the purpose of the run and your current ability. There is no universal correct number.

How do I convert minutes per mile to minutes per kilometre?

+

Enter the distance in miles and your time; the result shows both unit formats.

Why is my pace slower in Singapore?

+

Heat and humidity increase strain and often make a slower pace the sensible choice.
